Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced CPA, Tax Manager on behalf of our client in Waverly, Iowa.

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a long-standing, reputable public accounting firm with OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY.

Job Summary

The CPA, Tax Manager is responsible for delivering a full range of tax, accounting, and consulting services while independently managing engagements and collaborating with Tax Seniors and Partners. This role oversees staff assignments, reviews work, ensures high-quality output, and provides exceptional client service. This positions is responsible for ensuring the location meets budget and revenue growth goals.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisory

Assign, manage, and review work for Tax Seniors and Associate Accountants.

Coordinate staffing, deadlines, and engagement schedules with Partners.

Tax & Accounting

Prepare complex corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns.

Apply advanced tax planning strategies, compliance knowledge, and research techniques.

Analyze complex tax and accounting concepts for consulting and planning engagements.

Prepare and review compilation and financial statement engagements.

Manage audit and review engagement teams (as applicable).

Client Management

Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients.

Manage project planning, data collection, issue resolution, and timeline adherence.

Review and sign returns prepared by staff as needed.

Deliver timely, accurate, and professional client service.

Team Development

Train Associate Accountants and Tax Seniors on firm processes and technical areas.

Develop expertise in specialized industries; share knowledge through internal training.

Operational Requirements

Maintain communication with Partners regarding status updates, staffing, and engagement issues.

Consistently meet monthly and annual billable hour goals.

Produce accurate, professional, and fully compliant deliverables.

Required Skills & Abilities

Strong technical proficiency in taxation, tax planning, compliance, and research.

Knowledge of GAAP, tax basis, and cash basis accounting principles.

Ability to manage multiple mid-sized and large projects.

Skilled in reviewing work and guiding Associate and Senior staff.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Proficient with accounting software, including QuickBooks and firm-specific platforms.

Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Education & Experience

B.A., B.S., or A.A. in Accounting required.

Minimum 6 years of public accounting experience or equivalent.

CPA Required

Deep experience with corporate, partnership, and individual taxation.
